Ok, so one more Halloween post!

And I cannot guarantee it will be the last either!
I made these for a swap, and thought I would share.

This is a very simple template and could be modified to hold any packet of gum, or maybe even certain candies.
The dimensions I used were 8 1/2 x 2 1/2, score at 2 1/4, and at 2 1/2, flip and do the same to the other end.
Depending on your image used for the front, you could modify where you score that end to fit your layout.
Punch the word window punch, fold the bottom up, and then glue the portion above the punch to the back.


I *may* get crazy and make some for my sons class this Halloween! By then I will probably be tired of Halloween stamps though~

What a HUGE Success!!!

So here is my Summer Berry Tart! It turned out great, and tasted great also! I have never made a tart, and was a bit intimidated by it.

We had out big huge dinner last night for Gary Yost, (read about it here) and while I can't say for sure....I think both of my desserts went for over $70 each. We raised an approximated total of...are you ready for this~
$19,700!! I am in awe!

Many days of scrambling, dragging kids here and there to prepare, 3 days of baking, and what seems like thousands of e-mails and phone calls paid off pretty darn well. So, today we are off to enjoy the 80 degree weather at the beach and let my kids run free!

Back in the saddle...

So, I have a HUGE dinner my friends and I are putting together for 350 people tomorrow, and I have just as many things to do today....So, I stamped instead! I haven't done a challenge all summer, and I just wasn't into my chores today! :)

So, I first saw the colors, and almost didn't play, but I am happy with the results...Pomegranite is such an intense color for me to use.

Okay- off to bake a triple coconut choc cake, and a summer berry tart!

Super busy week for me here, we are still working on our fund raiser dinner for 350 people this Wednesday night....so that is where my head is right now! You get a break from Halloween cards!!
I did manage to start a second scrap book page yesterday though....I figured I may get it done by Sunday this way!!

Maybe I will squeeze some stamping therapy in this week somehow...Wish us luck on the dinner!!

Scrapbook Sunday

So~ Angie posted a page last week, and inspired me to do so also! She says she got the idea from Beate.
Anyhow, I need to catch up on scrapping period. I need any reason to make it happen!!

Here is a picture I took of my kids over a year ago, but it is one of my favorites. I *just* love how they really do seem to enjoy each other, and my daughter has a smile that could melt any body's heart.

I really wanted to use this new kit, and I am usually pretty conservative using them~ so I thought I would dive in and give it a whirl....Now I am thinking it's a tad busier than I like my pages to be. I really like the focus to be my pictures, and not so much of my "stuff" added to it. It seems to hodgepodged for my tastes.

The first one has Frank's head cut & mounted on a dimensional. I have these colors stuck in my head for Halloween right now, so I thought I would try the eggplant to see how I like it. Which is your favorite?

Love Halloween!

Okay, so I am still playing with Halloween stuff...I don't really send out that many Halloween cards, so I should probably move on to Christmas!! But, they are so fun!
This layout is based on the World Card making day site, and I changed the size a bit. Finished size is 3 x 5 1/2.
Very fun size to work with!!
The black is pierced on the first one, and those spiders are just so fun!
The second one could probably be used as a fall or Thanksgiving one if you changed the sentiment.
Which leads me to, I didn't have any sentiments I wanted to use with this, so I went with the Happy Boo to You. I should probably buy some more sentiment sets!!!

Next is a card I did a while back, and I am not so sure about it today!!! I am definitely over this color combo, and shabby chic is not my thing! Might even be the set as well...

And I need to work on a page to post Sunday, I am trying to follow suit to Angie. Scrapbook Sunday she called it, and I think she said someone else inspired her to do it, amazing how that works! I really need to get back to putting these pictures I have onto paper.

An older card

I am trying to clean out my space, and go through my card samples and swaps, and extra cards just laying around. I am going to make sure they all find a good home.
Any kids cards I will send off to Keiki cards to help them with their task of sending over 400 cards a week to kids around the world with a need for a pick me up. My friend Paula's son is currently receiving cards from them while he undergoes his chemo treatments at Children's.
Do you have any extra kids cards you could send them?? Such a great cause!

Here is one I found that I don't think I ever shared! Pretty basic, polka dots and petals and matching paper! Or is this polka dot paisley? Can't keep them straight!

Thanks for all the tips on cleaning my stampin' scrub, I wouldn't be telling the truth if I had said it's clean!!! I should mention though, I was only having troubles when I was stamping the image from take three, and then "huffing". The huffing seemed to moisten up old inks from days past!!
However, all scrubs, and stamps are going through a rigorous cleaning cycle this week!! Pin It Now!

Wild for Zoofari

I skipped the zoofari pre-order, then kicked myself for doing so. So, I traded for it and of course received it while I was sick. So, finally, here is my first zoofari card. I think this set is so cute, and with not having many kids style stamps- it's going to be well loved!

I wanted to color the zebra, but I just couldn't bring myself to "color" (even stamped it on naturals white for this purpose!) in what is supposed to be black and white!! So, I added the guava splash of color to the card, and I think it turned out great! (Not at all how I planned either!)

Does anyone else have a hard time getting your stamps clean? I use ultra clean, and if you look at the first card, you can see (faintly) the previously inked image. Evan after cleaning with the Ultra clean. Maybe the vanilla cs is just not so forgiving!

So, with that, I am thinking about re mounting this set, and separating the words from the images. I thought I could use markers and make it work, but not if the images aren't coming clean!

Autumn Apparitions

I am so pleased with how this turned out, just as I imagined it in my head~ Not very often does that happen ;) I love that new scalloped punch, and the creepy crawly paper!

I will have to admit that I am not as excited about this set now that I have it....It seemed so much more appealing on paper! I am going to try a few more cards with it, but it does not lend to a clean simplistic style, which I am so into lately.

I am going to sit on my duff on the couch for the rest of the night....spent the day at the zoo and I am wiped out!

3 for you

I took a break from the Halloween stuff, and wanted to do some more 3 for you punch box cards. I saw something similar to this on SCS, but of course changed it up a bit. These are such quick and simple cards, right up my alley! The ds papers of course, definitely help make it quick!
Well, I haven't had enough coffee yet, and the kids are already trying to get into the *very* small stash of treats we have hidden. I think I should supervise them for a bit ;)

Shannan, steubner on SCS, sent me this image (and quite a few others) while I was laid up on my back feeling cruddy....so, now I am using it up!! I did *screw* up a tad, (I wasn't feeling a 100%!!) and made a few coloring mistakes, nothing critical though...Not so easy to correct when you can't re-stamp!

This is a fabulous image, but so large...I struggled with placement, with out overdoing it. I *do* like a simple layout!! I stamped the sentiment from take three on the side, I must use those more, very versatile! So, did it turn out ok?

Still in the Halloween mode

Which do you like better? I thought I would give the old classic Halloween color combo a run for it's money against the newer updated color scheme....Which do you think works better? I have since made several more, with many other little insignificant changes, placement of brads, ribbon, etc. I may make a few more, or move on to another newer and less used set collecting dust on my shelf.

On a NSR side note, we had our pancake breakfast fund raiser yesterday morning for Gary, my friends son currently undergoing chemo for his Ewings Sarcoma. We managed to raise around $2200 for breakfast, and another $300 in head shaving challenges!! It was awesome!

Now, the big spaghetti dinner and dessert auction for 350 people is at the end of the month, and most of my time will be going to working on this event, so hopefully I will find some time to stamp between now and then. Wish me luck, I will need it!

Okay, when is summer over?

So, you know it's time for the kids to back to school when they breathe loud.

Don't get me wrong, LOVE my children, but between being sick this last week plus, and having been cooped up in the house with them because our weather is drab, I think it's safe to say, we all need some space!!

So, here is my Halloween box, I just need to fill it with some cute pumpkin paper crinkled up and some candies...
These pics are to help visualize putting it together~ Two 12x4 pieces of Vintage Violet (yes, I *used* to hoard things) scored at 4". I added my ds papers (again, last years stuff, I am over hoarding now) to each side, added my front panel, and lay one on top of another. Where it meets in the middle square, place your adhesive.

I am an "eyballer"- I eyeball the holes at the top, and tied the black hemp through, added the pumpkin on dimensionals, added the tag- (also-love batty for you!) and your done!!
There is also a thread going about the super cute boxes Artisan Award winner Michelle Fischer made, I will work on one of those in the next few days. I have the template all figured out, just need to find a spare minute :)
Have a super weekend~ We have another cub scouts event tonight(Raingutter Regatta) and then a potluck afterwards, Tomorrow- a trip to the local Fire Dept. where my husband will be helping with their open house, a BBQ tomorrow night, and then Sunday- the first of our fundraisers for my friends family whose 10 year old son was diagnosed with Cancer. We will be doing a pancake breakfast and head shavings challenges!! ( I will probably just photograph the last part, and not actually participate!!) ;)

I Stamped!!

So, I feel pretty darn good today (in comparison) and thought I would play with some of my new stuff that I got while I was sick~ *Love* the new textured cs!

I was actually stumped for a while, and nothing seem to work, (stampers block I guess!) So, I cased a few samples I had for the punch box promo, and put my tweak on them. I guess I need to stamp regularly to to prevent this from happening again ;)

The two pomegranite ones are actually cased from the promotion picture on the website.


I also managed to make another one of those boxes I posted yesterday, with Halloween colors and directions to make it clearer.

Isn't this just so fabulously cute?

This box we made at our last group meeting a few weeks back. I am still going through pictures and swaps from the meeting. This is such a simple concept~ The paper is cutie pie, and theres a square on each side, the back is plain saffron, and the front has the best sentiment they have produced this year stamped in pomegranite, and layered onto pomegranite.

It's two 12 x 4 pieces of cs scored at 4" & 8", laid on top of one another, and secured on the bottom with adhesive, and at the tops with the ribbon. I will make another up and take pictures if I didn't make it clear here~
I quickly ordered this paper when I placed my last order!! And the flower punch.
Obviously, it can only hold something light, maybe some paper shreds and some candies, or a set of votives, maybe a teacher gift to start the year off on a good note!

I just am not enjoying it!! I am feeling a bit better today, I took a shower!!

So, since I haven't stamped in a few I don't have much new, I even got new stuff- (holiday mini!) and haven't played with it yet.
So here's a couple of cards I made for some samples not too long back, love that garden whimsy set! And, the baroque one was me *just having to ink up* my new wasabi pad!!!

Well..not a sinus infection like I thought...

I made it into the Dr's office yesterday, kids in tow, and to my surprise, I do not have a sinus infection. I have pneumonia. Well! That explains it!! I am extremely wore down, and tired.
So, as I sit here and surf SCS (because that actually doesn't exude too much energy,) my but is starting to get sore! I think I will head into the tv room to watch a movie and nap. ;)

I have a million things I am trying to get accomplished, one of them being getting the fund raiser dinner and dessert auction for my friends family....(see post below titled meet Gary) put together. I thought I could print and trim the tickets while I am housebound for the next several days, however, I am finding anything to be laborious and tiring right now! Who knew so much cutting could get you winded!!!

Anyhow, as we left the Dr's office, he proceeded to tell my children all the chores they were to take on while I am down and out.....Hence the photo of my daughter! She was assigned dishes, and my son to cook!! When my husband came home last night from work and proceeded to cook dinner, she was pretty upset with him. That was Will's job she tells him. (She is 3, and takes almost everything literally still)

Lucky for my kids, my husband was able to get today off, and he now has them down at Boeing field watching the Blue Angels. They *love* the Blue Angels, so this will make up for me not doing ANYTHING with them this week hopefully!!

I have not been feeling well the last few days, and as I sit here this morning I have decided I have a sinus infection. Again. Ugh.

A week or so ago I went to my up-uplines big quarterly group meeting and here are a few of the make-n-takes we did.
I love how these ladies can make something so fabulously simple and gorgeous!




The first card uses pomegranite and guava, I believe that is cutie pie paper. Easy peasy!

The second used the new punch box which I ended up getting in a trade~ HAD to have it, especially after playing with it here! The card uses blue bayou, and shimmery white.

The 6x6 double spread, again, so simple, yet fabulous!! (Right up my alley style wise!!) This is the first chance I have had to play with the textured paper. Again, another must have- so I ordered it!!

And the most exciting picture of them all~ I won the swap contest!! Out of like 100+ ladies!! Woohoo!! This meeting just happened to fall on the day of my son's birthday sleepover, so I had left early. I found out later I won, and just received my prize GC yesterday!! I am getting flowers & flourish for my choice. I have eyed that set from day one, and even though it's less than the allowed amount, I love it!! Gotta get what you love!

I am hoping that my children have patience with me today, as it will be in the uppers 80's and I have no intentions of doing anything. These are the days where I wish my husband had a normal job and could just stay home.
