Jenni Bowlin Butterflies

This is a biggin'! This card measures 8 1/2 x 4. It fits nicely in the legal size envies. I love the sentiment~ it's can be used for so much.

So, I pulled out this paper I wanted to use~ it matched my sentiment perfectly and the everlasting romance as well. The dots from the stamp look like they just carry over into the paper.

It may be hard to see in the photo~ the everlasting romance is stamped in summer sky (memento), the sentiment is stamped in coral and dotted stickles on the flowers. Bashful blue ribbon and brads, hph in copper, a little paper piercing along the bottom and underneath the word 'butterfly'.

Tomorrow is June 1st~ Unity will be announcing their first ever guest designer spot~
And I just got the new kit of the month in mail this evening~so I will be uploading some of some projects with hopefully as soon as tomorrow!!
any guesses on who we may have for the first guest spot?? Pin It Now!

I could NOT wait to ink it up!

Here is my first card using my new singles. This is probably my favorite quote of the group, so I had to ink it first.
I used the circles from flirty flowers to stamp the background on the carribean cs. (it matches the circles on the quote perfect!) I stamped the quote in memento bamboo leaves, added a few brads to the circles, distressed the edges, and matted onto black and carribean.

I made yet another attempt at sewing, I sewed the designer paper (basic grey) and black mat onto the carribean cs and it looks pretty good~ still need more practice!

Happy for Friday, and a nice weather day at that! Off to see what organizational skills I can practice in my office. Pin It Now!

I love Happy mail!

Look what showed up on my door step today!

I got my newly released singles and kits from Angela, a beautiful RAK from Carolina, (love that image!!) and last but not least, a NEW BIA!

I have been itching to get on of these for a while now and so excited to finally play!!

I wasn't sure which wires to start with~ what do you use most of, and for what sort of project?

I ended up with a few 5/8', a few 1", and a 1 1/4" just for giggles.

And do you see all the new rubbah? Now I just need my husband to come home so I can lock myself in my room and play! Pin It Now!

I am a simple scrapper~ I don't want to take a long time on a page, I don't like to "overdo" it and take away from the photo. The trend now seems to be more is more, and so, here is my challenge layout for Christi's Simple Scrapbook Challenge

I am also working on that mini tutorial by the ultra talented Angie Tieman~ love that book!!
They will make great gifts! Thanks for writing that up Angie!!

So another gorgeous day here, the sun was out for the day, the kids played outside, got a little work done inside, and I am getting my stampin' space organized.

Day two of Jeff being gone and I realized nobody's doing what he does around here~ feed the fish, feed the dog, put her out, etc. You get the picture! Ooops- Better luck tomorrow.

Make sure to check out Unity's forum this week...I will be making a fun announcement!

I love the quote about creativity and can't wait to get it!

Yea Natalie!! And also~ can I ask where that user name came from??

So- my weekend~ went to dinner last night, date night before Jeff left for the week. We rented Dan in real life (tried to see baby's mama at the theater, and missed it) Dan in real life- ok. nothing to write home about. could have lived the rest of my life not seeing it!
I have Juno to catch up on over the next week as well- let's hope that has a little more movement in it!

Got Jeff of to his training and I got to RUN! I haven't ran since I busted my ankle up God knows how long ago. Much overdo, and I am sure I will sleep well tonight!!! Yes Amy & JoAnn- I *enjoyed* it!! and will get back into running regularly.

And last, but not least~ here are my projects from yesterday's soldering 101 class at impress.

Wow, what fun! And a tad stressful! I was sitting there taking my time, there were no kids pulling at me and I was enjoying the adult convo and then I realized what time it was! I was sort of behind!
Sarah had whipped through both projects and checked out and I still wasn't done!

This is a super way to use up your scraps~
Both use Basic Grey papers, and the one side is an Angel picture I snatched up there.
Sorry for the less than quality pictures~ not easy to photograph! Pin It Now!

Thursdays Project for Unity

ETA-still time to enter the blog candy give away from yesterday's post~ (late Saturday afternoon I will draw a name)

So here is Unity's first Thursday project! This is a fun little technique which I have been using for a long time, but I have no idea if it has a name~
Gather your stuff~ you will need a small tipped watercolor brush, diamond glaze, a reinker, acetate, stazon, and glitter if so desired.

So- stamp your line art image with black stazon onto the transparency, give a sec to dry, and flip over.

I was inspired by the colors in this paper, so I am going to paint her dress blue. I start with adding a teeny bit (I am using technical terms here, so keep up!!) of the diamond glaze.

Then add your re-inker color- NO more than a drop. (More than that makes it's *really* colorful, but runny.)

Mix the two and paint on the backside of your stamped image, by adding a drop and sort of pushing outwards the line.

So, I want her bow to be cocoa colored, so I rinse and dry out my container and do the whole thing over for the brown color. Since the area to be colored in so much smaller, make sure to add less both diamond glaze and re-inker.

Now, if you want glitter, ( and who doesn't want glitter? this dress is a calling for it!!) sprinkle a teeny bit over. A little goes a long way here. Set aside to dry for a bit. When completely dried, adhere to white piece of card stock and secure with brads.

For the remainder of my card, easy peasy. Swiss Dots cuttlebug for the patterned paper, matted onto cocoa cs and stitched around. (Did ya think that ribbon was there just for looks???) I am still getting to know my Janome Sew Mini! ;) There was a little incident which happens to covered by some very well placed ribbon!

The swirls at the top are the base of the dress stand, stamped in cocoa ink (Memento) Pop the stitched panel up on pop dots, and then pop the dress panel up on pop dots over.

Now lets see your try at acetate and diamond glaze~
Make sure to upload using both Keywords UP01, Unity Pin It Now!

A RAK and a shopping list...

Ok, I really need to get back into sending RAK's out~ so nice to get happy mail!

And I will admit, I check in on a MILLION blogs I am sure, and am not good about posting!! (i waste enough time on the computer as it!!) and one of the blogs I frequent is Jenn Diercks. (this is from her) This is a classic example of her amazing skillz as a paper crafter.
LOVE it Jenn~ thanks so much!

She had posted that she tried out for the Artisan Award and didn't think she had won, but honestly, she should!! She is really great!

Thursday I will be posting a small card project for Angela, and if you want to play along you will need the following items: (yes, this is me giving you an excuse to shop! :)
diamond glaze/ or crystal effects
fine glitter (if wanted)
a line art image to work with

off to be productive! Pin It Now!

I have the new long rectangle nesties and haven't yet used them...anyone have any advice? I also ordered the spacer mat that was recommended for that size... not sure why.
When I get a minute I will hunt on SCS, I am sure I will find *something* somewhere on there!

Here's a quick card using Unity's Gratitude = Joy set~ My fave floral set from them!!
Angela~ are you listening? We need more florals images....
I inked the dandelion portion of this stamp with summer sun and went over it with rust around the edges. Nice fall colors for spring! ;)
I wanted to try out making my own scalloped note card and aside from accidentally using the die upside down and scarring my plate, it worked great!!

The year is winding down, and hopefully this will mean less commitments. (yea!!) I am pairing down my commitments due to my husbands work schedule. I need a few more hours in each day!!

Have a fab Moday! Pin It Now!

A Party, A page, and A new toy....

Sheesh~ where has the week gone!?

I have been neglectful of my blog lately, as soon as things slow down around here, maybe I can get better at posting.

Here is a layout I did for Unity's release party tonight.
(9 pm Central time on SCS)
I can vouch for the images, I already put my order in~ You will need them!

Anyhow~ I did buy a Janome sew mini a while back, and just now managed to try it out~ on Maren's advice. So easy, so much better than fabric, blah, blah, blah. So I whip it out, turn it on....and nope. We DON'T get along!!
I almost emailed Maren....then I noticed I forgot to put the foot down! Ok, so it is *much* easier when your machine is properly set up! To prove I got the hang of it, I sewed my pictures on over the sloppy job of the papers! Maren, You were right!!!
And ever since my class with Ali Edwards, I am so just putting stuff on paper! this is a lot busier than I would normal go, but I like it!

Make sure you stop by the forums tonight for your chance to WIN some of her new kits and or singles!

I am off to cook dinner on the bbq, the dun overslept this morning, but it is finally out!
woohoo! we are going to be in the 80's this weekend!

And, I am not posting what kits I used on this layout for a reason...would make it too easy for, well, you'll just have to check out the party tonight!! ;) Pin It Now!

Saturday Sneak Peek

First, I just want to thank everyone for their oh-so-generous comments about my daughter and her generosity. Hopefully she can make some little girl happier. Having short hair has already been easier.

Check out her post here which tells all about her next party *and* giveaway! Who doesn't love a party with free stuff??

There are two other blogs out there with fun little images to ooooh and ahhhh over~

And lastly~ Happy Mothers Day to all of you!!!

Yea! She was such a trooper! I thought I would shed a tear, but no. none.
It's actually a relief now to have less tangles. She got up today, brushed it through and is off to school!

And it is *way* cute!!!! Isn't it fabulous! I just love the picture of her in the chair smiling at herself in the mirror.

When she put the hair band on and went to cut I think I gasped~ it seemed like it was going to be waaaaay too short. I think she cut it fast before we all changed our minds!

Lauren wants to pick who gets her hair, I am still trying to explain that part of the process.....I am planning to send these pictures off with her hair and makes some little girls day!

My husband, the one who was ready to cut it, "cut it short, and cut bangs" he said, now thinks it's too short. He is the only one struggling to adjust to it. such a boy. Pin It Now!

Four and a half years in the making...

Today is a big day in our house. My daughter is getting her first haircut! She is finally ready and willing, something that we have been battling with for the last 6 months.
I am excited and I am sure I will be somewhat sad to see her hair go, (I am a little biased) I happen to think it's gorgeous.

And yes, she will be donating it. She plans to have 10" cut, but I am thinking we may be able to go a little more and still have enough for some sort of cute shoulder length bob.

Check back later for updated pics on her new do. :) Pin It Now!

Playing catch up

Sorry for the poor pictures~ This is the clear acrlic album I mad at the Autism Awareness Crop/Class with Ali Edwards. I have always wanted to play with these albums! I love them~ very cool stuff.

She is pretty fabulous the way she just throws stuff together and it works. She kept saying, "don't over think it, just do it" and quit messing with your photos in photo shop, just use 'em. Need to remember this!

The bottom pictures are of Sarah, Pushpa, & Linsey, and then Ali & I. It was a great time, and I think we all learned a ton of new stuff, and spent a TON of money!

In other exciting news, Unity Stamps is now a member forum on SCS, so go visit them if you haven't already~ She has officially launched and is off and running!!! Check out her New Kit here.
They are already planning there next release in about a week~ so keep checking in, I hear party planning going on! Pin It Now!

where on earth do they come up with this stuff??

As we are driving home yesterday from Karate...My kids decided on arguing about what kind of kid we should adopt. ADOPT. As in, take another child in to our home. what?!?!

So my son wants a little brother, and my daughter wants a little stister. (that's how she says it!!)

not at all sure why, or how they came to that topic, or who told them we were adopting. (we really have never discussed it) not that I'm opposed to the idea, just came out of nowhere.

anyways...the craziest things come from them sometimes.

So here is one more card I snuck in for Kristina's color challenge~ I just got those felt flowers and had to find a way to use them. The set is a retired one that I can't part with- great little sentiments in it! other HUGE news....Did you all finally see the new Product Review on SCS??
It's for Unity Stamp Company- Which went LIVE today!!
Check out the review here, and check out Unity's website here.
Angela also put up the new kit of the month on the website~ love it!!!

And...they will now be a member forum on SCS. We are hoping it will go live today as well, waiting on all of the technical deets to get worked out. Pin It Now!
