Avocado Arts- Go time!

 Today the first Avocado Arts kit "Sunshine and Smiles" is being revealed!!

Here is my first AA card- Wishing you sunshine and smiles!

I stamped the little flower builder center over and over to create a rainbow-

The cloud is stamped and popped up with foam dots as is the nestabilies square with the rainbow-

 I used my standard circles nestabilities to create the start of the shape-and stamped the blue all around the die.

I then just repeated the patterned with each color-

Feel Better- CupCards To Go

Here's another card from the April CupCards To Go kit-

Sonda makes these great little card kits with pre cut card stock, envelopes, patterned papers, and tons of embellishments!! 

I have been on an anti patterned paper kick lately, and I am not sure why- I LOVE patterned paper.  (This is the stella and rose from MME- the kit was PACKED with it!)  So, I manage to cut into every piece!! The stamp is from Gina K, and ALLLLLL the little embellies were in the kit as well!!

Off to hopefully purge my craft room!  Spring cleaning with out the spring weather is not as fun...

It's been cruddy weather week here in the PNW...who's ready for some SUN!?

 This first card uses the new What's the dirt set from Gina.  News Flash!  I am not a great colorer, so I went with highlighting the pots and a lightly coloring in the flowers. 

And I forgot to share this one the other day, so I am showing it now...This is the Timeless Textures again paired with the Garden Silhouettes (the Free with Three set)  I have been in an earthy mode lately...must have been all the preemptive Easter/Spring colored cards I made hoping Spring would show up.... Not yet here!! ;)

GIna K Designs inspirational hop day one

 Welcome!

Today I have several cards more to share from Gina K’s newest release.  Be sure to catch all the other samples from the Design Team today  –  Make sure to check them all out on the All New page!!

First up is a basic themed card using the Timeless Textures set.   I added 'Celebrate' sentiment from Tami's last release of Perfect Pennants, and figured it could be a guy card for a birthday, kids birthday/school graduation, or add something to it if I needed.  It's nice to have extra cards on hand sometimes!

And here's my sneaky peek from yesterday's post using Garden Silhouettes (One free with 3).   Love the springy colors here- now if only spring would show up here in Washington!

   I used both sets here- I don't do a lot of techniquey-styled stamping, but thought I would give the ol' kissing technique another try- I stamped the dotted background onto the flowers.  I like how it adds a little texture to them.  I also stamped the dotted texture in orange and linen texture in yellow onto the white strip to layer.  Remember years ago when everyone was putting 3 and 4 background images onto a card?  ;)

Easter Treats

Jelly Beans are the epitome of the classic Easter treat, at least in my house they are!

Well..in case you are like me, last minute lucy lately...I have a quick and easy treat pouch to make for the last minute Easter treats that pop up unexpectedly this week-

You can head on over to the Spellbinders™ blog to see more fun ideas!

 Here's what you will need to make this-

S5-025 Labels Seventeen  and S4-310 Labels Eighteen from Spellbinders™.  Using the largest die from the Labels Seventeen, cut out two pieces from white card stock, and one from a patterned paper of your choice.  (I used Echo Park's 'Life is good' here) Cut a fourth using just the mid section of the die.  From your Labels Eighteen, cut one piece out using white card stock.

 You can score any where to vary the size, here I scored at 1" using my Scor-Pal.  In this one from Halloween, I scored a little farther along, closer to 2". 

 Secure the ends together, and set eyelets.

 I stamped the image from Gina K's Basket Blessings, and then again onto scraps of patterned paper.  I paper pieced all the eggs to avoid coloring them all in!!  I am not a huge fan of coloring...It's not therapeutic for me like others say it is...(mostly because I am not Marianne! ;)

 Adhere the patterned paper to the labels shape, and adhere foam squares to the chick image.

 Here's the really hard part-

fill the treat sack with jelly beans, and DON'T eat any.  ;)

Tie the end off with twine.  String the twine ends through the eyelets outward.

Tie the ends into a bow and trim.  The end result, cute little chicks holding yummy jellybeans!!

Celebrate Life- CupCards to go-

Happy Saturday!!

I have made a few changes in my regular commitments recently, and while it was a very hard decision to make, I am looking forward to many opportunities ahead!  Thanks to Angela and Unity for the last 3+ years, it has been a great time!  I have learned so much and watched that company grow! 

Luckily, I was invited to play along with the CupCards To Go crew this month!!

It's no secret I lean towards CAS!  I have struggles with adding too much stuff and not making it look like the dog spit up on my project! ;)  I have never been great in layering embellishments or adding tons of layers, so I am pretty happy with how this turned out!  

We are off to Softball, Track, Softball photos, and another Track meet.  And let's hop the rain holds off until like...October! ;)

GKDT Technique Hop Blog Hop

 Welcome to the Gina K Designs Technique Blog Hop!  

You should have arrived here from Carolina Buchting's blog, if not head back at check out her great post.

LOVE this image in this months Stamp TV kit Springtime Silhouettes!    I also LOVE Gina's tutorial on Nestabilities, Images beyond the border, and use is OFTEN! It adds the pop of detail you are sometimes looking for!

Stamp your image, and then place your die of choice down over image to decide placement.  You can choose to leave the wings out instead if you like-

Draw along the edge of the shape of the die with a pencil, maybe a half inch on each side of the beak.  Then cut into the card stock and trim around the beak.  Be sure to check out Gina's Tutorial on Stamp TV for a FULL detailed explanation. 

 Tape the nestabilities to the card stock using removable tape, allowing the cut portion to extend beyond the die.

 Here is what the end result should like- I still need to erase the pencil line and trim up the beak a bit more.

Samantha Walker Creative Team Blog Hop-and a mini tutorial

Happy April-

Hopefully your April is warmer than mine- and less rainy!  April showers are supposed to bring May flowers, but I am making a few of my own today-

This isn't really anything new, but a twist for people who can have several thumbs when trying to make rolled flowers from fabric using liquid glue.  ;)

I cut a few pieces of card stock to about 1 x 1".  Also, cut some fabric strips- any width, I did try to vary them.   Cover your square with glue dots- I think I used four of the larger sized ones here- Tie the end of your fabric strip into a knot.

Fold the end of the knot under and adhere to glue dots.   Twist and roll.  This is SO much easier than using a liquid adhesive imo- and the card stock offers a sturdy back.  Keep twisting and rolling and pushing down. (really, this is just a knock off version of a make-your-own-gluber if you don't have one on hand!)

 Finished flower.

You can always mix it up and try making different flower styles- Here I twisted until it created it's own loop and then adhered, repeat all the way around creating twisted loops.

 Here are several different styled flowers- All you have to do is cut around the flower to remove excess card stock.  You can sit and make these while watching AI! ;)

 here's a close up of them all trimmed and on my card-

And the finished project-I placed all the flowers on the S4-310 Labels Eighteen from Spellbinders™ and cut her C8517-Pink Enchanted Garden Circles fabric also using the same die template.  The very-hard-to-see-sentiment is an itty bitty stamp called Be You from Unity Stamp Company.  The flowers and larger label panel are from her fabric line sold at Riley Blake.

And, lastly, another quick and simple card using her Big Top Birthday collection.  I submitted two to last months Paper Crafts Magazine carnival call, and this was the reject!! :) The sentiment is a sticker also from the same collection.

get well- Paper Crafts 350 Cards & Gifts

Hello from 'warmer than home' Phoenix!!  Still down here on our Spellbinders retreat soaking up some sun, friendships, and learning lots!

This month, I am thrilled to have 2 projects featured in Paper Crafts 350 Cards and Gifts.  Here is one of them, using Gina K Stamps, Spellbinders die, and MME papers.

 Pretty simple chicken soup in a jar gift- Always a good thing to have on hand!   A pretty bow, and some bling are usually an easy way to pretty up your jarred goodies!

Back again with another CupCards To Go card for this month!!

 This one uses the sketch for the month.  I added window treatments to my house with some of the ribbon in the kit and a little ric rac to the top-  The sentiment is from SRM stickers, included in the kit (I have been itching to play with these! ;)The kit comes with a TON of them!

off to pack- I leave manana for a little R&R with some fabulous friends in Phoenix for the Spellbinders retreat!!!

hello sunshine

No sunshine here...RAIN.  And LOTS of it.  And spring break has officially begun here!!
Luckily, I was invited to play along with the CupCards To Go crew this month!!

and this card makes me feel like spring is coming!!

At least it's trying- in my garden to day I saw my lilies poking through, my calla's starting to come up, and several of my hostas are out looking for a shadow- if only the rain will stop now...

Everything from the April kit was used to make this card, with the exception of my favorite butterfly die from Spellbinders
