CardMaker Fabulous Frames Blog Hop

Good morning!  Today several members of the CardMaker Blog team and Gina K. Designs team are  showcasing stamps used in Melanie Muenchinger's newest book Fabulous Stamped Frames, published byAnnie's. This cardmaking tutorial book features 36 projects using seven of Melanie's bold and line art frame stamp sets from Gina K. Designs.  These versatile sets each contain a frame stamp large enough to fill an A2 card front, which can be rotated portrait or landscape style, along with coordinating images and sentiments, that allow both beginners and advanced crafters to enjoy endless design possibilities for year-round themes, occasions and styles. Not all sets are needed to get a ton of instruction and ideas from this book! Melanie challenged us to each put our own spin on one of the sets, so we hope you enjoy what you see today!  She and Gina will be sharing videos as well to show more of the book and some of the stamps in action.

I thought I would show how versatile this set could be by using it two different ways-

First up using the various elements that come with the set I created my background pattern, and finished it off with the sentiment popped up on a die cut.

Second, I used the frame portion stamp of the set and colored in the various boxes with Gelatos to give it a bright watercolor wash look using the frame in its intended purpose.

Here are the images that are included in this stamp set:

There is also a prize! A gift certificate to use on any sets, templates, digital paper or studio cut files in Melanie's line of Gina K. Designs products.  To enter, leave a comment on the blogs in our hop today.   One commenter will be randomly chosen and posted Friday on Gina's Blog.  The more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win.  Finally, all seven sets frame stamp sets are all on sale for the first time ever. Take this opportunity to stock up on your favorites or complete your collection.  See full details for the prize and the sale on Gina's blog.

Please enjoy the hop!  Good luck on winning the gift certificate!  Thanks for hopping today!

Oh Happy Day

Happy Hump Day said the camel on tv! ;)
It's another amazingly gorgeous day here in the Pacific Northwest and we are out frolicking around in the sun while we can.

I have a fun card today using Imagine Crafts®/Tsukineko® Memento Luxe™ Mixed Media Pigment inks and Spellbinders new Criss Cross Expandable pattern.

First I created my own stencil using a piece of transparency paper from the office supply store.  I die cut the pattern, and then popped out all the little pieces before temporarily adhering it to my card stock.

I started with Love Letter and an Ink Blusher™ to apply the ink through my stencil.  Just a few light dabs on the ink pad are plenty! I inked through a few lines completely, and then partially through the next.  I want the colors to blend in to each other.

Next I used Dandelion and started where the red left off, blending them together a bit to create an orange hue before the yellow.
I repeated the process with Pear Tart before moving on to Bahama Blue, making sure to blend the colors together as I work.

Lastly, I finished off the bottom corner with Sweet Plum.

After you pull off your homemade stencil, you get this.  I rinsed my home made stencil off right away, and it came clean and is ready to used next time.
to finish my card off, I stamped the sentiment using StazOn® in Jet Black on the transparency.

enjoy!

Storage tip!

First, I will preface this post saying I am hardly qualified to be handing out storage tips! ;)  In fact, I should probably be looking online for some myself! ;)

However, I do have one I am sharing over on the CardMaker blog today that shows how I store my most often used dies.

You can head on over to check it all out!

Happy Friday!!

Today's challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays is to use numbers on your card!

And the winner of this 2 (TWO!) week challenge is going to receive a stamp set of their choice from CAS-ual Friday's stamps!

I have been going super-duper simple lately with my challenge cards, and thoroughly enjoying it, so I thought I would add a few layers back while still keeping it clean and simple, and I think I like the super duper-simple better still!

Happy Hump DAY!  (My family all LOVES that camel commercial where he runs around asking what day it is, and it's the silliest of commercials, but it makes us all giggle!!)

My first card today uses Becky's new awesomely-fabulous set, Beautiful Banners.  I am IN LOVE with the woodgrain image!  It's so amazingly-awesome and easy to line up to create backgrounds.  And the mix and match banners are so clever!

My second card uses one of Debbie's new Darling Divas set Aloha Diva.  I love the Hibiscus flowers in it- (I need it in a LARGE size in case any one is listening!! ;)

My first card uses Up & Away from Theresa.  I free handed cut the green hillside, and then mounted with Crafty Foam Tape to my card base.   I really like the hot air balloons and the fact that the design inside them allows for paper piecing!  I stamped each one onto different patterned papers and then popped them up with 3D Foam Squares.

My next card uses Beth's new fun alphabet stamp set, Lots of Dots.  There's lots of fun little label designs in this set- I used one to create my pattern, alternating the direction I stamped it in each time.  I spelled out Hello onto a die cut and popped it up with 3D Foam Squares.

Make sure to check out the others!

For You

Warning...this is a photo heavy post! :)
Today I went WAY out of my box and played with Imagine Crafts® Creative Medium™.

My card today was an experiment for sure.  Playing with this stuff is a bit out of my comfort zone, but it was fun.

To start, I taped down my mask.  I just took a squeegee and smeared around the Creative Medium, trying to keep it somewhat of an even layer.

I decided to coved the whole mask just in case.  I pulled the mask of while it was still wet to avoid ruining it too much.

I then set it out in the sun to dry.  This is what it looks like when all finished- (I think I will do it again and leave it white, I like how it looks! ;)

I decided to add a bit of color, so I inked up a Blusher using Memento Luxe™ Mixed Media pigment Ink.
Reapply ink to sponge as needed and cover the front of your die cut.  Wait just a few moments, and then wipe off excess ink.  The Creative Medium resists the ink leaving a pearly shimmery white design.

Of course, I got curious- so I decided to try using it another way- Make your own colored medium.  Place a dab of the Creative Medium in a well, and add a few drops of All Purpose Ink and mix well.

Be careful not to add too much ink, it will make it too thin, and just a tad harder to use with this particular stencil.

Here you can see, I just did the middle, but am debating doing a different color on each row...  I haven't decided if I like the resist or color my own better.
